Toxta 100 is a peripheral muscle relaxant containing purified botulinum toxin type A (with haemagglutinin) and sodium chloride (excipient). The drug’s mechanism involves botulinum toxin type A blocking nerve impulse transmission. When injected intramuscularly, Toxta 100 inhibits acetylcholine synthesis, temporarily paralyzing facial muscles. This reduction in facial expressions aids in facial relaxation, smoothing wrinkles, and preventing new ones from forming.

It is available as a fine powder that must be diluted with 0.9% saline. It stops the impulses that cause the muscle to contract after being injected into the muscle. Due to the injection, the muscle is unable to contract, which helps visible wrinkles relax and soften as well as inhibits the development of new ones. Results typically take 5–14 days to manifest and might last up to 4 months.
