Full Product Description
Single-Nozzle Plasma Surface Treatment System for Paper Products
In paper packaging production, some surface finishes can make adhesive bonding difficult. Metalized coatings, UV varnish, lamination films and glossy surfaces may have lower surface energy, which can result in poor glue adhesion, peeling or unstable bonding.
The KQ Single-Nozzle Plasma Surface Treatment System is designed to solve these surface adhesion challenges by activating the material surface before adhesive application.
The plasma treatment process can increase surface energy and improve the wettability and adhesion of the treated area, helping create a more reliable bonding interface. KQ's official product information states that treated surfaces can reach a surface tension value of approximately 40 mN/m under suitable conditions, although actual results depend on material, surface condition and process parameters.
Key Benefits
- Improves surface adhesion
- Enhances surface energy
- Helps reduce delamination and peeling
- Improves bonding on coated and laminated surfaces
- Suitable for difficult-to-bond paper packaging
- Single-nozzle design for targeted treatment
- Compact structure for equipment integration
- Suitable for inline production
- Can be integrated with box-making and gluing equipment
- Multiple nozzle options available for different applications
Typical Applications
The system can be used for surface treatment of:
- Folding cartons
- Paper boxes
- Metalized paperboard
- UV-coated paper products
- Laminated paperboard
- Glossy packaging materials
- Pharmaceutical packaging
- Cosmetic packaging
- Food packaging
- Corrugated packaging
- Paper bags
- Printed packaging products
KQ's plasma systems are also used in applications involving plastics, electronics, automotive components, wires and cables, furniture and other materials where surface activation is required.
Inline Equipment Integration
The plasma treatment system can be integrated into existing production equipment such as:
- Box gluing machines
- Folder gluer machines
- Carton converting machines
- Box-making machines
- Coding and printing lines
- Automated packaging production lines
This allows the material surface to be treated immediately before adhesive application, minimizing the need for a separate treatment process.

Why Use Plasma Treatment Before Gluing?
When a paper or packaging surface has a coating, film or glossy finish, conventional adhesive may not achieve the required bonding performance.
Plasma treatment modifies the surface characteristics before adhesive application, helping improve the interaction between the substrate and adhesive.
For certain coated paperboard applications, KQ states that plasma treatment may allow the use of standard cold glue instead of more specialized adhesive, potentially reducing adhesive costs. Actual results should be confirmed through application testing.
